It's been beautiful yesterday and today and believe it or not, I actually did some yard work this morning! There was a pretty large patch of weeds that needed to be taken care of, so I decided to tackle it. I admit, I haven't quite finished, but I like to think I have made a significant difference.

Tom, kids, and I will be going to Kerry and Alison's this weekend to help them tackle some rather LARGE "weeds" (trees). It sounds like it will be quite the project and we're pretty excited to help them make improvements to their yard. I know we've really enjoyed the changes we've made with ours.

Speaking of which, I took some pictures this morning because I am so excited about how much better our yard looks!

For those of you who don't know, Tom had an interview this morning! It went well and they offered him the job, but it sounds like he will probably choose Nielson's over this one. I don't know. I guess we'll see.

Tom and I attempted to duplicate a chicken, bacon, ranch pizza that we've had from a pizza place before. It actually turned out pretty good! I seasoned some chicken with fajita seasoning and sauteed it. We used a light layer of ranch dressing in place of pizza sauce, diced up some bacon and cooked it, and cut some canadian bacon into smaller pieces. We sprinkled the chicken, bacon, and canadian bacon pieces over the ranch and topped it all off with some mozzarella cheese. We thought it was good and decided to share in case anyone wants to experiment for themselves. :)

So what I want to know is how come Tom and Nancy are the only ones invited to Baskin Robbins - should we get our feelings hurt? j/k

Kerry, heard about your unfortunate news with the cruise. Darn it! Maybe a miracle will happen, ya think?

Well look out!!  This is the second Northern Bayles post in a month!!  Can you believe it?  Anyway, first off, let me apologize for our super lame user name (kerry bayles).  So I wasn't really familiar with this whole blogging process when I had to set it up, so when it asked me for a name, I just put in my name.  So sorry it's nothing cool like Ninette or Dream Bump or anything, but we're sure not going to try to change it now, so you're stuck with it.  I guess I'll just be the uncool blogger.

I wanted to let everybody know that my first pack meeting went really well.  All the boys showed up, and only one set of parents was missing!  For a first go-round, I couldn't have asked for more.  Everybody seems excited about getting started with cub scouting so we'll see where it goes.  Hail the Almighty Cubmaster!!! 

In other news, Jed Tate called me this week and asked me to be the camp program director this year since Scott Boyle won't be able to make it, and I said yes!!  I'm  pretty scared, but Ali was more than willing to push me into more responsibility, so here we go.  The good news is that although I won't be able to teach a merit badge this year because of it, Ali's dad and her brother Craig are coming to camp, so she can hang around them during the day.  We're really excited about it and hope that Granna and Grandad will let us impose upon their hospitality again this year.  With the way my work's going, it might be the only time we get to see you ( too bad we have to have an excuse like scout camp just to get down there, huh?).  

But anyway, this post is getting way too long.  But we also wanted to let Tom and Nancy know that we found out there is a Baskin Robbins really close to our house, so next time you come visit we'll take you there for a treat!  Wahoo!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas anywhere other than Emery County? It's been an interesting day.

We went out to feed the calves this morning and the crippled one was dead. It's just been so darn cold and wet the last couple of days that it actually didn't come as much of a surprise. We've had trouble with that calf from the get-go, so maybe it's a good thing. Just wish if it was going to kick the bucket that it would have done it in the beginning and saved us the extra calf formula! (Is that heartless?)

We moved them into the barn this morning and I'm much relieved because I worried a lot about them out there with nothing to protect them from the weather. It's a better thing all around -- they have more room, and now the stink isn't right in our back yard. They STINK!

Well, anyway, I guess no one wants to hear about our farm animals, but it's my first experience with it so I have to share. You know how I am. Enjoy tomorrow's conference sessions!

P.S. - Dad, I did try watching it on the internet and it was more effective that way. Thanks for the idea and sorry for the rude interuption!
